2022-23 LIVE and VIRTUAL CONCERT SEASON

The Power of Myth

A Note from PMW

Welcome to our season of concerts in 2022-2023 which we are calling The Power of Myth, exploring some of the greatest stories ever told through powerful performances by some of today’s most acclaimed artists.

Join us in October to experience the stellar voices of baritone Dashon Burton and soprano Maya Kherani in the dramatic and moving tales Of Gods and Mortals

December’s In Mary’s Arms tells the Christmas story through baroque favorites by Bach, Corelli, and Handel as well as rediscovered gems from Ukraine to Latin America.

February gives us the opportunity to continue our Founders’ Series with The Resounding Lyre: A celebration in honor of Bill McJohn. Admission to this concert is FREE to all.

In March, Murder and Mayhem takes you to the turbulent world of 17th century England through the songs and instrumental music of William Lawes, one of the most important composers of the generation before Henry Purcell.

To end our season, we are proud to present Monteverdi: Love and Revolution, an exploration of how the composer changed music and opera while communicating the full spectrum of human emotion and experience, especially love.

We are also thrilled that after a two year hiatus, Sanctuary in the City is back with monthly FREE lunchtime concerts at the Josephinum in downtown Seattle.

Our season may be enjoyed in person or virtually (on-demand), though we require the following for in-person events:

  • We follow masking guidelines established by King County. At this time, masks are not required but are encouraged

Purchase season tickets, single tickets, or on-demand tickets today.

The years leading up to the English Civil War in 1642 were full of riotous discord, reflected in the popular Broadside Ballads. At the same moment, William Lawes, (1602-1645) the greatest English musical genius between Dowland and Purcell was producing vocal and instrumental music of unparalleled beauty. His life was cut short in battle, but his legacy of musical jewels, including the unique Harp Consorts, remains for our discovery today.
